Providing the camp experience for kids facing whole organ transplants
Mikaela Masnyk Desloges Launspach was a 29 year old, 3rd grade teacher in Ottawa, ON when on November 1, 2019 she passed away from injuries sustained in a car accident. On November 3, 2019, her organs were donated to 6 people. She was a registered organ donor and let us know of her wishes to donate her organs and we were proud to honour those wishes.
Mikaela was also a lover of the outdoors. From the time she was a baby she spent her summers at the lake or camping with her family. The lake was always her happy place and that is where we spread her ashes.
Her family set up a Foundation in her name to raise money to send kids who were waiting for, or who had a whole organ transplant to camp. We couldn't think of a finer tribute and we know Mikaela would be thrilled for kids to experience the same camping adventures that shaped her entire life.
Please give generously to this wonderful camp so that children can just be children.
