Riding to Bring Joy to Kids Who Need It Most
This September, I’m taking on a heck of a challenge—cycling from Toronto to New York City as part of R2//NYC. That’s 800 kilometers and over 9000m of vertical climbing in just a few days. It’ll be tough, but it’s nothing compared to what some kids face every day.
I’m riding for Campfire Circle, an organization that brings joy, connection, and healing to kids with cancer and serious illnesses. Through camp programs, hospital visits, and community activities, Campfire Circle helps kids just be kids—laughing, playing, and making lifelong friends, even in the midst of their toughest battles. I was very fortunate to have a healthy childhood and attend Camp Tawingo. My memories of camp are some of the happiest of my life, and the many of the friends I made there (almost 30 years ago) are still some of my best friends today. Camp was such an important part of my childhood, I'm so excited to be able to pass this experience on to the kids who need it most.
Every child deserves the chance to experience the magic of camp, no matter their medical diagnosis. I want to help give more kids that opportunity, and I need your support to make it happen.

Help deliver healing through happiness to kids with cancer or serious illness and their families.
When a child is diagnosed with cancer or serious illness, it impacts the whole family. Kids miss out on simple childhood joys, household incomes are often cut in half as caregivers take on the full-time responsibility of caring for a sick child, and families struggle to make time for special experiences.
When you donate to Campfire Circle you are supporting in-hospital, community and overnight camp programs that create opportunities for children to build friendships and social skills, develop self-confidence and resiliency, and improve their overall well-being. Through play-based experiences, you are helping empower kids to take back their childhood, regardless of their medical diagnosis.
With your support, we can continue to offer our programs at no cost to families and grow our circle of care to provide additional play-based experiences across all four paediatric hospitals, and improve our medically supported and accessible overnight camps so that every eligible child can benefit from our innovative and impactful programs.
